Welcome Back QCE Eagles!

Your QCE PTO would like to welcome you back to school, old friends and new! We had a very successful 2009/2010 school year and we look forward to even bigger and better things for 2010/2011! The board would like to extend our thanks and gratitude for all the support from teachers, staff, parents, students, Ms. Horton and our Queen Creek community. It was because of this overwhelming support we were able to raise money for our school family.

We have a lot of great events coming up for this school year! Movie nights, game & craft nights, Spring Fling, Santa Shop just to name a few. We will also be doing some fundraisers throughout the year. We all understand the current economy and the current budget restraints on our school district. We have taken great care to try to select fundraisers that are economical and fun but still help us raise money for our kids, teachers and classrooms. Every penny counts!

PTO Meetings are once a month. We have moved meeting night to the third Wednesday of every month. The date will vary on months with school breaks. Meeting time is 5:00 p.m. This year we will be having guest speakers from our school (reading specialists, nurse, PE Coach, etc) to help our newcomers as well as our "seasoned" families know more about what goes on in our great school! At meetings we also hear updates from Ms. Horton and teachers. We try to keep meetings short and informative. Please try to make it to one so your opinions are heard!

Volunteering for PTO is easy and painless! If you are interested in participating in any way, please let one of the PTO Board Members know! We have signup sheets available or you can let the front office or PTO member know. You do not have to be a stay at home parent to volunteer! We need help in many ways, physically being AT the school or event is just one way to help. We need volunteers for phone calls, emails, donations of time or items for specific events, etc. If you are willing to volunteer for ONE event, it does not obligate you to ALL events!

PTO Announcements go to parents via fliers in your child's folder/backpack, via Snap Grades (email), morning announcements, monthly newsletter and on the marquee in front of the school. If you sign up to receive PTO emails directly, please remember to check your "SPAM" folder as often times our emails get shuffled into there!

School News

Cookie Dough Fundraiser!
QCE is currently doing a cookie dough fundraiser. Packets should have gone home with students on Monday 8/16. We are asking that each child try to sell at least 3 boxes of cookie dough each! The class that sells the most per grade level will earn a pizza party! If the school as a whole can sell at least 1500 boxes they will earn a BMX Show later in the year and a Movie Day!

If you did not receive a cookie dough order form, please contact your teacher or PTO. We also have extras in the front office.

Say it with a GRAM!
PTO will be selling "GRAMS" throughout the school year! A GRAM is an inexpensive way to send a personal note and small treat to your student or teacher! For this school year we will be offering Back to school grams, BOO Grams, Turkey Grams, Winter and Holiday Grams, Valentine Grams, Luck Grams, Spring Grams, Happy Grams, Summer Fun/Graduation/End of school Grams. We also do a special "Teacher Appreciaton Week" Gram for our wonderful QCE Teachers and staff! Look for information coming home with students, information emailed via Snap Grades and information right here on the PTO Website for ordering!

Spirit Nights!
 
Spirit nights are held once a month at a local restaurant or eatery. The business hosting our Spirit Night has graciously offered to donate a % of the profits for that day (or time period specified by them) to our school. We try to change around our Spirit Night hosts as much as possible. In the past we have had Papa John's Pizza, Chick-fil-a, McDonalds, El Rico's, Yogurt Jungle, Domino's pizza and much more!
 
THANK YOU to all our QCE families, students and staff who helped make our first spirit night of 2010/2011 a huge success! With your support, our school earned over $300 in TWO hours! Thank you :)
 
PTO Meetings
 
PTO Meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of every month (the date will vary on months where we have a school break but those will be announced and on our calendar) at 5:00pm in the school library. We will be having periodic guest speakers this year from various departments of our school. PE, Reading Specialists, School Nurse, Cafeteria, just to name a few. We also have Principal's Update from Ms. Horton at every meeting as well as covering upcoming events. We need parent involvement! We also have periodic door prizes, raffles, snacks, pizza, desserts and refreshments. Whenever possible, we also have child care for those who bring their families with them! Please join us!!!


If your child's birthday is upcoming, you can contact the lunchroom and have a delicious, healthier alternative delivered to their classroom for the entire class.  Prices start at .50 per student and go up to $1.00 per student.  The contacts for the lunchroom are (480)987-5983 or cweekly@qcusd.org.
